This means if an English team reaches the Europa Conference League final, they will play
an additional 15 games, or 17 games if they finish second in their group. (I can almost hear
the cries of ‘we are playing too much football’).
Group stage dates
Match-day 1 September 16th - Match-day 2 September 30th - Match-day 3 October 21st -
Match-day 4 November 4th - Match-day 5 November 25th - Match-day 6 December 9th.
The final will be on May 25th in Tirana, Albania.

The new structure for UEFA club competitions will ensure at least 34 UEFA national associa-
tions are represented in the group stage of one or more competitions.
Spain, England, Germany, Italy and France all get one team, while Scotland, Portugal, Nether-
lands, Russia and Belgium get two.
What does this mean for Scottish teams?
Hibernian and Aberdeen have already qualified for next season’s Europa Conference League,
joining at the Second Qualifying Round.
Tottenham finished seventh in the Premier League and there-
fore qualify for this European ‘Super’ League. Looking at some
of the teams in the qualifying stages there is certainly a compro-
mise on quality, but maybe that is just me being a bit sceptical!
