Football Is Back, But With Caution
The Government has now given the green light to ‘grass roots’ sport, but inevitably with extreme caution.
The English Football Association have issued a twenty one page document to assist clubs to undertake
a risk assessment and to ensure the rules and guidance is adhered to. The Kent County League met on
July 23rd to discuss the document and then sent out a directive to clubs with the message, continue with
extreme caution. The message is clear that people’s lives are more important than a game of football.
Life outside sport appears to be getting back to some sort of normality, although the opinion is that it
will take quite a while, perhaps by the turn of the year, to get back to ‘normal’. It seems really strange
that after three months of isolation with very limited excursions, apart from a daily walk, many of us
have not been in the company of other human beings outside their own home and yet now there is a bit
more freedom we tend to avoid people in an effort to keep to the two metre zone. Strange times indeed!
Let’s just hope that there is not another ‘spike’ and that we have to suffer another ‘lock down’ for the
sake of, not only for the countries economy, but for the populations mental health.
