Always Help Around The Corner
It always amazes me that during these very difficult times there are always people that are willing to help
others that are worse off than themselves. Grass roots football clubs and players, although often receiving
‘bad press’, have a tendency to come together when there is a cause worthy of support.
Hayden Sharp a member of Cinque Ports Football Club that play at Marke Wood Recreation Ground, organ-
ised football matches on Sunday August 16th, to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy charity in support
of 6 year old Henry Lanaway, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Hayden had become aware of the youngsters plight when he was teaching him at St Mary’s Primary School
in Dover. He quickly got the support of his club, Cinque Ports FC, East Langdon Cricket Club and many
friends and the event was organised. Please read about Henry’s Hurdles and how you can help on page 8
and more about the day on page 25.
Football often attracts a bad press but when there is a worthy cause to support footballers and supporters
of the game come together and should be applauded for it. I was very proud to be part of it!
Well done to Hayden and all the players for supporting such a worthy cause.
Thank you for reading.
