Let Us Hope The F.A. See The Light
There appears to be a lot of changes on the horizon for English football and the feeling is that the F.A.
should now step up to the plate and show some leadership. They have been strangely quiet with no an-
nouncements or statements coming from F.A. Headquarters at Wembley. You would have thought that with
the apparent rise in racism which has been well publicised in the media and the total embarrassment that
VAR is causing, there would be something coming from the ‘ivory towers’. It is a considered opinion that
the F.A. is becoming a faceless organisation, not helped by the online world in which we live in where you
cannot seem to be able to speak to anyone ‘face to face’ anymore.
There is now a rumour that football at ‘grass roots’ level is in danger of being left to its own devices and
may have to apply for membership to a higher level if they win their league, totally contradicting what the
F.A. set out to do when they re-structured the non-league system in England a few years ago and leaving
it open to ‘the old pals act’ of years ago. A massive backward step! They have already set a precedent by
allowing certain clubs to ‘buy’ their way into higher levels of football. There have been many examples of
this going badly wrong when the money source dries up or the benefactors don’t produce what they said
they would.
The highly paid executives at the F.A. should go back to their roots and spend a few weeks at a ‘grass
roots’ club, get their hands dirty and remind themselves how the other half lives. Who knows it may help
them to see the light!!
